Types of Painters

Finding a professional house painter can be tough. Anyone with a brush and a pick-up truck can call themselves a professional. But, how do you know who’s any good without being an expert yourself? How do you make sure they can do the work you need done?
This report will help you ensure your painting job gets done right the first time. It will show you the things you need to know to get you painting project done professionally at the correct price. Most importantly, you will learn the basic questions you need to ask any contractor before you hire them.

Types of Painters

First, let’s explore what kind of painters are out there for hire. Basically, there are three types of painters: the “brush it over” painters, the “wanna be” professionals, and the true professionals.
The “Brush it Over”
Everyone has seen the “brush it over” on a number of occasions. This is the type of painter who rarely picks up his phone or returns calls. When you are lucky enough to schedule an appointment with them, they’ll be sure to arrive late. You can also easily identify this type of painter when he does not show up for the job’s scheduled start date. As the name implies, the “brush it over” does not really address the homeowners’ concerns or properly prepare wall surfaces before painting them; he simply brushes over these important details. After his incredibly low priced job is “done,” you’ll need to call a true professional to fix the painting mistakes and a cleaning company to pick up the left-behind mess.
The “Wanna Be”
The “wanna be” is a local painter you see from time to time around your town. He’s usually a full-time painter and does passable work, but does not own a real painting company. During the summers, he’ll hire untrained college students to do most of his painting jobs. Usually, the “wanna be” only accepts cash payments, is uninsured, and offers no written warranties for the job. At a first glance, his prices are reasonable, but you must take on a lot of risk when hiring the “wanna be.” Remember, he is not insured, uses cheap untrained labor, and offers no guarantees for the job.
The True Professional
The best painting contractor to hire is the true professional. A truly professional painting company will not let you down – they strive for 100% customer satisfaction. A professional company will never hire cheap temporary labor, but instead, will use experienced and apprenticed craftsmen painters. A true professional runs his business with genuine integrity and can be fully trusted. They are insured, bonded, and offer written guarantees. Although you might have to pay a little more to get a professional painter, at the end, you will be glad you did. He or she will return calls promptly, listen to all your concerns, identify a solution that meets your needs and will get the job done in a timely, neat and clean manner.

What You Need to Know Before You Hire a Toronto Painter

What You Need to Know Before You Hire a Toronto Painting Contractor
This is a list of 12 questions to ask yourself or the potential painter before you press the hire button. It is much better to hire someone that can actually get the job done properly rather than someone that can only work you up a headache. Why are headaches so familiar when people hire painters or any other type of contractor? Because they hire way too quickly. Don't make yourself a victim of hiring too quickly. Take a minute of your time to read this post and don't hire until you find a professional!
questions-1How Do I Make Sure I’m Hiring a Professional?
Before you schedule an appointment with a painting contractor, you need to make sure you are doing business with an established and professional painting company. Because anyone can claim to be a professional, check their complaint record with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) first. Paint contractors who do sloppy work, leave your home or yard a mess, or don’t come back for any necessary touch-ups will get poor reviews with the BBB.
As a professional painting contractor, Pro Painters Toronto strives to provide 100% customer satisfaction. There are not BBB complaints filed against our company and we have a plethora of positive customer testimonials and references available upon request. We are a registered, fully insured business and can provide a certificate of insurance and business license to back up our claims.
How Do I Know They’ll Show Up on Time and Stick to Scheduled Dates?
Unprofessional painting contractors are infamous for being late to appointment, starting the job past the scheduled date, and not finishing work on time.
At Pro Painters Toronto, we guarantee that our painters will never arrive late without calling to notify you first. Additionally, you may reach a live person to discuss any scheduling issues by calling our office at any time.
questions-2How Do I Know I’m Getting a Fair Price and That the Final Bill Will not Go Over the Initial Quote?
According to the National Association of Consumer Agency Administration, the home improvement industry received the most complaints related to contractor’s unfair billing practices. Typically this happens when an un-established painter or a sub-standard painting contractor offers to do your job for a very low price with some money down. After they get your deposit, they end up using the cheapest material and labor they could find, doing a sloppy job or not completing the project at all, and at the end, completely cutting off contact with you.
If you have a large-scale painting project, make sure to get a quote or proposal written on the letterhead of an established local company detailing what is to be done and for how much. An official, written quote establishes a firm price and won’t allow you to be overcharged at the end.
At Pro Painters Toronto, we realize that fair pricing is one of your top concerns. We establish firm quotes for our customer and stick to our initial price. We will never charge you more than we quoted you.
How Do I Know Your Painters Won’t be Rude, Vulgar, or Make a Mess?
questions-3This is a very serious question to ask. Contractors who hire cheap and unskilled labor are concerned more about their bottom line than they are about your safety and the security of your home. Be sure to check if the contractor has policies regarding how their employees behavior and appearance and what precautions they take to protect your home.
Pro Painters Toronto takes your comfort and safety very seriously. All of our painters have a presentable appearance and are individuals your family can feel safe with. Our employees never smoke, play loud or foul music, use offensive language, or leave a mess in your home or on your yard. All of our workers are experienced in the area of home improvement and apprenticed in painting.
Property protection is one of our top priorities while working on your project. We always use drop cloths in any areas we are working on to protect your property. Plastic covering are always used to shield your carpets, furniture, or any other belongings during the painting process.

3 Reasons to paint the interior of your Toronto house

The interior of a room in a Toronto house.

Painting the interior of a house is one of the most popular home improvement tasks for homeowners in Toronto. Using a reliable contractor is one of the most important means of having a home look fresh and clean when the job is finished. There are some things that you shouldn't do yourself, painting is one of them. The procedure is pretty simple. Choose house painters in Toronto with a solid reputation. Choose which rooms need to be painted. Pick the paint color and prepare the home. The Toronto painting contractor will do the rest. Here are three reasons to paint a home interior.

1. Inexpensive Upgrade with a huge ROI

Painting a home interior is one of the cheapest improvements you can make to sell a house when putting it on the real estate market. Today’s market is extremely competitive. Sellers need to gain whatever edge they can to make a home look beautiful and well-cared for. They may even be hesitant to put a house up for sale because of the hassles that go along with getting it ready for showings and open houses. The fact is, a freshly painted home helps a house to look inviting and move-in ready. It smells fresh. If everything else is equal, shoppers will choose the real estate that needs the least amount of work, making it an easier sale.

2. Visual Appeal

Interior painting in Toronto is just part of general maintenance routines that need to be performed around the house. In about five years, paint colors start to fade and get darker in the corners of the room. Older paint can make a house look dirty. Because paint is a porous material, odors can be absorbed by the paint and make the house smell. Adding a fresh coat of paint will not only brighten a room, it can make it smell like new, too.

3. Change

Some people paint rooms simply because they have grown tired of the existing room color. Others are changing the use for the room and what is in there now is inappropriate. They may have seen a picture in a designer magazine or in a friend’s decor. One thing to keep in mind when changing room colors is to consider how long the current homeowner will be living in this house. Going for the latest color trends can be the kiss of death when it comes to the real estate market, so be careful when choosing colors. Most Toronto homeowners paint their interior every 5 years. Generally speaking, the color chosen should be something that one can live with for the next five years.

How Much Paint Do You Really Need?

A screenshot of the paint calculator which is
found on www.propainterstoronto.com
You are at the paint store looking to buy some paint for your room. The problem? You have no clue how much paint you really need. You end up making a blind guess with the help of a sales rep at the paint store. How accurate was that guess? Usually its fairly inaccurate. The end result of this scenario is you having to start your car for a second trip at the paint store because you ran out of paint or even worse, you are left with a bunch of wasted paint that just takes up space in your garage. Well, we are about to show you a terrific tool that you might want to bookmark for the next time you have to paint anything. The Paint Calculator which can be found HERE, can help you come up with a fairly accurate estimate of how many litres of paint you will need to paint your room. All you will need to do is measure the length, width, and height of your room while stating the number of doors and windows. After you press calculate, the calculator will come up with an estimate of paint in litres that you will need to paint your room. If you have to paint your house, just measure every room (including hallways and other spaces) and you will come up with an estimate of how much paint you'll need. It might not be 100% accurate, but believe me when I say that it will be a much better estimate than the blind guess you made at the paint store.

Before you go telling all of your friends about this great tool, let's look at the details. These calculations are not intended to give more than a rough estimate and that precise paint needs will vary according to many factors. It is impossible to figure out the precise paint because we would need too much data. There are so many factors that could change the amount of paint that is needed. We wont bore you by going through all the factors. But do remember that this calculator is only meant to give a rough estimate. Even though it will be a much better rough estimate than have no estimate at all. Also, the calculator is programmed to calculate the amount of paint for 2 coats of paint.

You can find the calculator here. This calculator has been brought to us by the experts at Benjamin Moore!
